Manchester Jazz Festival
Brand, social media and promotional overhaul to inspire a new wave of listeners.
An eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary aesthetics.
A collaborative brief involving the re-branding and re-marketing of Manchester Jazz Festival 2019. Bringing a contemporary feel to the festival, it aimed to appeal to a new wave of listeners, artists and musicians. An eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary aesthetics were used to convey the movement and fluidity of the brands essence. This included duotone styling, reminiscent of the world renowned Blue Note records.
Frequent usage of soundwaves was a concept aimed to reflect Jazz as a genre; fluid, flowing, ever-expanding and constant. The evolving wave patterns represented the evolving Jazz music scene, with multiple colours used to signify diversity and coming together. We decided to build this fully into our rebrand, as the eclectic mix of history and tradition and new, fresh, contemporary aesthetics could in the long run draw in newer consumers and/or acts to perform there. We even drafted a concept for a new tagline, prompting people to be inspired by ‘A New Wave’ of artists, music or listeners.
